Silvija and Daniel

Some time ago I was thinking that to find a foreigner who could be your soul mate, the best friend and a partner is impossible. I was thinking that different languages, cultures, attitudes towards life and values and customs are like obstacle between two people of different cultures. However, now my attitude towards this subject has changed. But it has changed only because of my personal experience and not because of any unbelievable stories you might read or hear about.

When I was nineteen years old I decided to go to Germany to work by Au- Pair program. I loved children very much so I thought why not to work my favorite job. When I was in Germany I felt so different from others. I spoke only a little bit of foreign language and I knew no one except the family I worked for. But as always times heals and make even strange places more common to you. It happened and to me. When I got more acquainted with country and people I liked it there more and more.

With the time passing I found more and more friends. However, they were just like true friends but not like someone really close to your soul and heart. One of my new friends mentioned me about the internet agency and website where you can get acquainted with people from all over the world and maybe find your soul mate and partner there. I didnt think this is serious and it passed my ears as amusing story that is too hard to believe to be true. But the longing for love made its job and soon I decided to try this website as I had nothing to loose and just maybe to get some more new friends. The opinion that it is impossible to start serious relationship with different culture man was still in my head although now it was less powerful then before as I met many people and in one or another way we found the common language for all of us and the differences didnt seem so great as they might seemed before. A first few months didnt give any results. I just found a few good friends but during the third month of my being on the website I met him. There was something in his letters that seemed different from all others from the very beginning. His thoughts and attitudes, desires and dreams seemed so close to mine that sometimes later when he called me on the phone we even wanted to say the same words at the same time. He was from France. It was not so far from Germany so after a few months of our communication through the internet he came to visit me. I still can remember how nervous and excited I was. My hands were shaking and my voice was trembling but it was one of the happiest moments of my life. When we met we just stood in front of each other and stared at each other for some time. I already knew it was there- the feeling of love was there the same minute I saw him. It was the only thing I lacked during the months of our communication through the internet and phone. I needed to see him to make sure that what I felt before will not go away when Ill see him. And it didnt.

His name is Daniel. Now he is my husband. After that our first meeting we started seeing each other twice a month. Usually it was he who would come to visit me and sometimes I went to see him in France. The days without seeing him seemed so long and lonely and I was again waiting for another meeting. After a half year of our relationship he proposed to me. I didnt need to think and answered yes. After a month of our engagement we went to Lithuania to meet my parents. They were happy for us. They liked Daniel and accepted him into our family. I was so happy seeing all my loved people together. I was also happy because my thought about differences between different cultures people didnt approved. The love always finds common language between two hearts and souls.

What else could I add? Now we live in France. It is the third year that I am happily married. We have a son and one more baby is on his way to this world. I have never dreamed of my life turning this way but sometimes what we are afraid of seems to be even better than what we thought to be the best choice for us. I was imagining my happy life with a man from my country but destiny turned me into the way which I was not expecting to take. Maybe really somebody out there above us knows what is best for us. I can only wish that you also would find your soul mate and the loved one the way I did it. Maybe your happiness is just around the corner. Go and meet him/her.
