Andrew and Galina

My darling Galina, I have just arrived home after so long a journey. You know, all the way back home I was thinking about you and I really miss you very much right now; leaving you on Tuesday night was so hard and I wish there had been a way for me to stay longer with you, a lot longer!

I felt so good with you over the last 6 days, and I mean really good. I was so happy and content during our time together and that is not something that always happens between two people, I really hope you felt the same but I would like to know how you felt about this time. I think we very quickly became comfortable with each other, language difficulties apart but as I have said before, it’s not always the words that are important it’s the way we say them, it’s the way we are around each other, and I think we, or at least let me say to you that ‘I’ was very happy to be with you and I really didn’t want our time together to end.

I was very happy. Well there were more thoughts than just happiness in my head when you asked me and I will tell you now what they were. I was thinking that right at that very moment, walking with you, holding your hand; it was the first time in a very long time, and I mean years and years, when I could say absolutely with confidence that I was happy and content with life. I know that sounds silly, we are all happy at times, but I mean a true contentment and feeling of well-being with life just at that moment in time. I wish I could show you the depth of my feeling right at that moment of understanding, then maybe you would know better what I am trying to say but I can’t put it into words. All I can say is that you were the reason I had that feeling, it was being with you that made me feel at peace with life, at peace with the world and at peace with myself, even for a brief time that feeling leaves a permanent impression in the memory, and I will not forget that moment and that memory and that feeling.

There is so much I liked about you that I wouldn’t know where to begin. You really are wonderful! You were everything I hoped you would be from your letters and so much more! My dear Galina. About my next visit, I need to save money to visit you again, but please believe me my visit to you will be as soon as it is possible for me to make it! I mean that! I miss you, I don’t want to be parted from you, I want to see your smile and hear your voice as soon as it is possible for me to do so. I wish I could kiss you right now :( my world would have been a much happier place if I had been with you today.
