Irina and John

Irina met John through a Siberian agency after a brief correspondence. John came to her snow-clad city and was fascinated by the beautiful Northern landscape. He was met in the airport by an agency interpreter, a guide and the very one that was the ultimate aim of his voyage - the lovely Irina.

Anticipating the encounter made both of them nervous and excited at the same time. John understood perfectly well that there was some age and cultural difference. Moreover, his ex-love companion did something quite disreputable to him when she left him and their three children for another man in a momentary decision.

[pi1r1]Irina was a leading specialist on one of the largest factories, in which she had worked ever since she graduated from university. After a tough divorce with someone who turned out to be an alcoholic, she decided she did not want to stay alone and chose to pursue her happiness in the more remote regions of the world.

John was affectionate and tender, he conquered everyone and everything with his Australian exuberance. His ancestors were from the Maori tribe, and although he looked quite civilized, he would get any bureaucrat by the throat if necessary.

There were certain problems with obtaining an Australian visa for Irina. Different options were tried, and none of them worked. But they kept trying. In fact, Irina was initially denied a visa and no one was surprised except John. Then he got the Australian Minister of Tourism and under John's bombardment every bureaucrat involved with the matter had to give up.

Now Irina lives in Australia. They still love each other. John has put a lot of effort in showing his beautiful country to her and they do travel a lot. Here is an excerpt from Irina's letter on her Australian impressions:

"Recently John has taken us to an amazing place called Smoky Mountain, which is simply impossible to forget. We were standing on the edge of a precipice, or, to be more exact, in the center of the mountain, and we were watching the clouds. They were special clouds that consisted of essential oils evaporating from the multitude of eucalyptuses growing far below. It smelled fantastic.

"It is funny to watch parrots flying around just like sparrows would in my city. Now I am getting used to it but at first it was quite bewildering - I was thinking of catching the bird and taking it back to the owners, as someone had probably lost the beautiful thing :)

"I am really grateful to fate that we found each other. He is so caring and enterprising. Yesterday I found a note attached to the fridge that said 'Irishka I love you - your playboy' :)".

Everyone seems to be happy, but life never stands still. People always have minor or major problems. For example, John decided that it was high time to adopt Irina's son. To complete the paperwork, it is necessary to get the consent of the biological father. Imagine how surprising it was when this biological father demanded an apartment in exchange for this paper. But it is a completely different story
