Ludmila and Jerry

This story began just after our agency started its work. Ludmila was our first client and her happy story initiated happy chain of meetings and weddings. Not many men wrote to her though. By some unbelievable coincidence Jerry was the first who sent her an introduction letter. And he turned out to be the last. Probably it was the fate itself that dotted the "I"s. At first Ludmila and Jerry were just friends. They discussed events in the world, shared their past experiences and helped each other to overcome loneliness. Gradually their letters were becoming more tender and personal. It was so pleasant to see the spark of joy in the eyes of this woman who hurried to the agency after her working day to find out if there was a letter for her. And the room lightened with warmth and coziness as if by magic. Several months passed. Finally they decided to meet and Jerry came to Ukraine. Probably there is a great difference between Ukraine and America because his first impression was strange. Maybe it was partly because of the cold winter. He wasn't used to this at all because winters in California are quite different. But Ludmila and Jerry understood that they were meant for each other, so other problems didn't seem to be of great importance. The problems were considerable though. The most important thing is to have great patience when another person speaks foreign language. Dictionaries and agency interpreters helped a lot but there was so much they wanted to say just looking into each other's eyes. But if they didn't understand each other you wouldn't read this story now.

Ludmila and Jerry were no longer young so they were not in a hurry to get together. Their relations lasted more than two years. During this time Ludmila mastered the English language and Jerry started to speak Russian a little. They did their best to be closer despite long miles and the ocean between them. Jerry visited her several times in Ukraine. He kept sending her flowers, sweets, letters and words of support that are so important for a woman who is waiting her beloved. In order to make her a present Jerry bought a tour to Turkey for two where they celebrated New Year. There is a tradition: if you meet the New Year night with some person you will spend next year with him. They must have made that wish together because that year Ludmila applied for a fiance visa and moved to America to her beloved.

Of course, at first it was very difficult to get used to new place and surroundings. But Ludmila is a very friendly and kind person. Jerry's relatives and friends appreciated her charm and tact and soon she became a full member of his family. After some time Ludmila started the English courses and found a job because she wanted to help her husband in everything. Several years has passed since they are together but they try to live each day to the fullest. They try to share joy, make surprises for each other and everyday problems get solved easily. Their smiles bring light to everyone who look at their photo.

So let the fortune smile to all of us and let a true friend cross our path, a friend who will support us in difficult moments. And let the exciting companionship last weeks, months and long years to come!
