Otto and Nastya, 2003

My name is Otto and I am from Norway. We have quite a few beautiful and intelligent ladies here, but I never managed to find that special one among them, the one whom I would share my life with. These days, many girls try to be very independent and are thinking about their careers all the time!

I have always had a different opinion of what a girl should be like. I was dreaming of meeting an affectionate, caring girl that knows how to love. I wanted to create a great, united and solid family. I had heard that one of the countries where the girls still know how to be ladies in the real sense of the word is Russia. Before, Russia was not as interesting and as important for me. Now everything is different.

My spouse Nastya came to me from Russia. I see a wonderful woman, who became an indispensable part of my life. Nastyas parents also live in Russia, and we visit them often. I think that it was Nastyas parents and the country itself that made it possible for me to meet the girl of my dreams.

So, Nastya and I met through your dating site. We started corresponding in winter 2002. I can recall getting a letter from a pretty Russian girl with wonderful hazel eyes. The letter was quite small but I felt it was sincere. What else do you need for a relationship? A multitude of words cannot replace one sincere word.

I decided to write a reply to Nastya (even more so because I loved her name). I told her a little about my country and myself. Nastya wrote that she never went abroad, that was why I thought she would be interested to learn something about Norway. In a couple of days I got a reply to my letter, which made me very happy. Nastya wrote so much about herself and her life, that I read her letter several times it was very interesting and thoughtful!

Then I felt that I knew everything about this girl. I was mistaken. Every letter of hers unraveled more secrets of hers! I found out that she cooked well, liked to sew, adored dancing, has a great command of English, took driving and computer courses. On the whole, she had a lot of talents and capabilities. I felt that I couldnt do half of the things that this tender and fragile Nastya can do.

To say the truth, I had some doubts about her words being true. The picture just looked too good. But what could I do? Nastya was the only girl that I had corresponded with at that point, and I didnt want to lose the chance to get to know her better. In my fourth letter to Nastya I decided to tell her that I had a business trip to St. Petersburg coming up so I would be glad to meet her.

To my surprise, I got no answer, although I got used to getting one on the next day. I thought that the girl was not taking me seriously and simply had no one to talk to. The next week saw no reply either, but then the answer finally came. In her latter, Nastya wrote that she was sick at home all that time and couldnt reply because she always used the computer at work. I was ashamed. I kept thinking that I do not trust her. What if she did not trust me either?

I made a decision to come and to see Nastya with my own eyes, to get to know her and to stop having doubts about her words. Nastya also expressed a real desire to see me. She said that she was going to find a substitute at work to spend more time with me. Nastya promised to introduce me to her parents and friends. I must admit that I myself did not expect her to take our correspondence so seriously.

In our following letters we made concrete plans about my visit. I arrived in Russia in the end of February 2003, it was the 24th. I decided to stay in a hotel nearby the center of St. Petersburg. Nastya and I were supposed to meet in the hotel lobby. I went down at the specified time and immediately saw the face that I knew from photographs. The hazel eyes were staring at me in a sort of a scared way.

I approached her; we exchanged several words and decided to have a chat in the hotel restaurant. It is amazing that as soon as I saw Nastya and had an opportunity to talk to her, I stopped questioning her sincerity and her serious intentions. I realized that this girl, just like me, hadnt met her special man in her home country and was looking for someone who would be happy to have a real family.

The other day we took a walk round the city and Nastya showed me her favorite locations in St. Petersburg. I promised to visit her place over the weekend in order to meet her parents and to see how they live all together. They made a real celebration! They are such nice people! It was a pity we couldnt understand each other, and Nastya was always busy translating our communication. But on the whole, it was quite fun and friendly. I think Nastyas parents liked me in an instant. We still have a great relationship. After our conversation, I realized I need not look for another girl.

The next morning I came over to their place and proposed to Nastya to become my lawful love companion. Of course, her parents could not understand every word that I said, but they got the idea. Nastya moved to my house in June 2003, and on July the 30th our wedding took place. Since that day we became even closer and more tolerant to each other. I can say for sure that Nastya has even more talents than she enlisted in her letters. I try to learn from her. Of course, we have our little misunderstandings like any other family does, but we are still together and happy that fate had brought us together.
